English for Academic Purposes: Summary, Explanation and Exam Questions.

Unit 1. Session 1

This unit deals with an activity which teachers can follow in their language class. But if we go into the details of this chapter than we’ll be able to see that through this chapter we are learning one very important step of critical writing: Brainstorming.

Brainstorming can be define as “writing down your initial thoughts about any topic”. Usually, at the beginner level, we are suppose to brainstorm by drawing a picture as:

While brainstorming on any topic, do NOT overlook any of your initial thoughts, write down as many ideas as you possibly can.

Exam Questions:

1- Brainstorm on any of the following topics:

  • Teaching/ learning process at the government sectors of Pakistan.
  • Gardening.
  • Spending quality time with parents.

2- Brainstorm on the following topic and than write an essay on the same topic by using the points of your brainstorming.

               “social media is a good source for learning”
